Dr. Akdemir obtained his B.As. in Environmental Chemistry from Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences. Afterwards, he worked in the Environmental Toxicology laboratories of The Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research (TNO). He obtained his MSc and his PhD degrees from the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences (VU University Amsterdam, The Netherlands). Subsequently, he joined a drug discovery company as a computational chemist. In 2011, he joined Bezmialem Vakif University (Istanbul) where he is currently associate professor of pharmacology and vice-dean at the Faculty of Pharmacy.
His research interests are mainly molecular modelling and molecular pharmacology studies of various drug targets.
